Introduction: The growing trend of the elderly population has caused the issue of elderly health to be of special importance and on the other hand maintaining the health of the elderly is one of the main problems in most societies.The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of urinary incontinence rehabilitation nursing program on sexual function and sleep quality of elderly women referring to Ayatollah Mousavi Clinic in Zanjan in 1399.
Materials and Methods: The present study was an interventional study in two stages before and after that the research community consisted of the elderly who referred to Ayatollah Mousavi Clinic in Zanjan in 1399.Fifty-eight eligible seniors were included in the study through available sampling and demographic information questionnaires, Pittsburgh sleep quality, female sexual function index and abbreviated form of International Urinary Incontinence Counseling Questionnaire were used to collect data.Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 20 using descriptive and inferential statistical tests.
Results: In the whole sample, 74% of elderly women had undergraduate education, 77.5% had normal delivery, 41% had a body mass of more than 30 and the average age was 68 years. The mean sexual function before and after the intervention was 25.57 4 4.2 and 30.63 9 3.9, respectively, which is statistically significant (p = 0.001).The mean value of sleep quality variable before and after the intervention was 18.93 8 8.2 and 8.20 2 2.1, respectively, which was statistically significant (p = 0.001) and finally, the mean value of severity was Optional urination before and after the intervention was 19.78 9 5.9 and 14.53 5 4.5, respectively, which was statistically significant (p = 0.001).
Discussion and Conclusion: According to the results obtained in the use of urinary incontinence rehabilitation nursing programs, this intervention can be suggested as an effective approach to improve the quality of sexual function and reduce sleep disorders in elderly women.
