Introduction and purpose: Coronary artery disease is a common chronic disease which has significant effects on various aspects of health including quality of life. The aim of this study was to assess quality of life among patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery.

Materials and Methods: Tis descriptive cross-sectional study was done among 64 hospitalized patients suffering from coronary artery disease and willing to undergo coronary artery bypass graft surgery at Ayatollah Mosavi hospital in Zanjan. Data were collected by demographic and Mcnew quality of life questionnaires one day prior to the surgery. data were analyzed by SPSS software version 16.

Findings: participants consist of 44 male and 20 female with mean age of 58.78 (SD+9.4) years old. Findings showed that quality of life in patients was relatively good. Women had significantly lower quality of life than men.

Conclusion: Considering important effect of coronary artery disease on patients' quality of life, health care providers should plan to improve quality of life in this group of patients.
