Filed and Aim: Aging is very important these days, because the population of the elderly in the world is increasing day by day. Therefore, the present article aimed to investigate the relationship between attitude to relationship stability with loneliness in the elderly in Gonabad.
Methods: This research is cross-sectional and correlational. The data collection tool was a questionnaire and the statistical population includes all elderly men and women 60 years and older living at home in Gonabad in 1396 that was selected among 350 people as sample. And were analyzed data using spss sofware version 23 and t-test, multivariate regression and manova tests.
Results: In bivariate relationship analysis, there is a significant relationship between contextual variables and relationship quality, alone, between employment and unemployment and relationship quality. But when the contextual variables along with other predictor variables entered the regression equation to measure their effect on the criterion variable in interaction with other variables, none of the contextual variables remained in the equation and the variable of willingness to continuously communicate with children alone was about 37%. Explains the dependent variable changes (quality of relationships) whose intensity (according to beta) is 60.2%. That is, 60.2% of the changes in the quality of relationships are explained by the desire of the elderly to have a continuous relationship with their children. In multivariate regression, after the entry of all variables, only the tendency for continuous communication remained in the equation, too. and in Manua, the three variables showed a significant relationship between the tendency of married children, the importance of continuous communication and self-care with different dimensions of relationship quality. This means that the elderly like visit their married children regularly.
The results also showed that the better the quality of the elderly relationship with their family members, the less loneliness there is in the elderly. Statistical calculations were obtained using SPSS software version 23 and separately multiple regression coefficient for relationship with spouse, married and single children. The adjusted coefficient of adjustment of the dimensions of the quality of the relationship with the spouse to explain the feeling of loneliness in the equation is equal to 60%, for married children 63.6% and for single children 49%.
Conclusion: According to the findings, it is possible to reduce the feeling of loneliness through the mass media and informing families about the need for stronger emotional bonds with the elderly in order to create a sense of worth in them. And it is family organizations that can meet their emotional and other needs.
